The Academy at Emerald Eight

Precision training for the University of Oregon and the dedicated competitor. Mastery is born in the morning light.

EXPLORE THE CURRICULUM

Academic Integrity

From Monday through Thursday, our hall serves as a classroom for students mastering the physics of the bank shot. Between 10am and 2pm, the clack of balls follows the logic of the laboratory.

In partnership with the University of Oregon, we provide a sanctioned environment where cue sports are treated with the same rigor as any collegiate discipline.

The Syllabus

The Geometry of the Game

01 // DYNAMICS

Kinetic Energy

Understanding the transfer of momentum from cue to object ball. We analyze the variables of friction, velocity, and the precise moment of impact that dictates the path of travel across the emerald felt.

02 // TRIGONOMETRY

Tangent Lines

The 90-degree rule is the foundation of positional play. Students learn to visualize the natural path of the cue ball after impact, allowing for surgical placement for the next shot.

03 // STRATEGY

The Psychology of the Rack

Beyond the physics lies the mental game. We study the pressure of the table, the discipline of the pre-shot routine, and the strategic foresight required to run a full rack under competitive conditions.
